Pro-Launch was created as a one-stop-shop for golfers
Jay Slough is a former USMC F/A-18 Hornet fighter pilot, 7-time All-American in two sports at the US Naval Academy, and professional golfer. After months of trial and error, this Pennsylvania native developed a method to market himself effectively, raise the capital to play full-time, and support his family.
Jay developed Pro-Launch in 2006 after learning of other golfers’ needs for capital support. Basically, Jay saw an opportunity where there was demand for a product, yet zero supply. It was Jay’s intent to develop the system for various sports and aid athletically-inclined individuals to pursue their dreams with a solid foundation from the start. Pro-Launch has grown from pages and pages of notes, to an interactive web site, www.pro-launch.com, where aspiring and professional golfers alike can learn how to market themselves properly and develop their own golfing businesses (with plans to expand to other fields in the future).
"Pro-Launch was created as a one-stop-shop for golfers who want to move up to a professional level by using proven techniques to raise money and attract sponsors while they focus on what matters most—playing golf," says Jay. He adds, "I was able to raise more than $200,000 using the system I developed, which is now available to any Pro-Launch client." Results are evident as two clients, both amateur golfers, participated in the beta version of the site and raised upwards of $30,000 each.
Pro-Launch assists clients with creating their personal marketing package, which includes a web site, photo shoot, business materials, and interview preparation. The company advises on raising money, developing goals and achieving them, and utilizing strategies and tactics for pitching and working with investors and sponsors. It also provides investor and sponsor contract templates, tutorials on acquiring sponsorship and secrets to success, and direct instructions on how to manage the Pro-Launch package.
