Bumping Into America's Mister Smoke Stop

Hypnotist is a Man on a Mission and Truly a "Mobile" Home-Based Entrepreneur
    By Home Business Magazine

James P. Hilton is a paramedic, karate instructor, and Eagle Scout, that spends his days introducing himself to truck drivers by striking up conversations and handing out business cards. Sporting a baseball cap and carrying a backpack stuffed full with his Smoke Stop self hypnosis DVD’s, the energetic 51-year-old is just itching for opportunities to spread his message.

American Hypnosis Association certified hypnotist James P. Hilton is on a mission.

What exactly is his message? A mix of folksy common sense and peer reviewed science, with a sprinkle of Christianity thrown in. Judging from the reception he gets, it really strikes a chord.

Scientists know little about how hypnosis works, only that it does. And that's why the American Medical Association and the American Psychological Association have both recognized hypnosis since the 1950s. A native of Jersey City, New Jersey, Mr. Hilton broadcasts on his Facebook page footage of ex-smokers stretching from Indiana to Florida. "Seeing is believing,” he says.

“What's better,” he asks in a strong New Jersey accent, “a paramedic helping someone dying of a heart attack or a paramedic giving a person tools to prevent having a heart attack? Prevention is the cure.”

“When did you last meet a health professional who spoke about walking and prayer as medicines?” Mr. Hilton asks. “Yet, there is an astonishing amount of material in the literature proving that life style changes are remarkably effective for everything from lowering blood pressure to reducing heart attack risk.” These things get “back seat priority,” because drugs are cash spinners. “With profit-driven medicine, money is always the bottom line,” he says.

“This is the future of medicine,” Mr. Hilton insists. “We’ve gone full circle. Some day these things will be offered at every hospital,” he says, pointing out that both the British and German health systems have long paid for homeopathic and herbal medicines.

Mr. Hilton created the Smoke Stop self hypnosis DVD’s, which can be obtained at www.hiltonhypnosis.webs.com.  He's sold them to people from all walks of life. Per Mr. Hilton, research shows hypnosis rates more effective then gum, patches, or e-cigarettes. He estimates Smoke Stop helps 20-25 people weekly to kick tobacco out of their lives for good. But he’s still not satisfied. “There are millions more out there wrestling with this appalling addiction,” he says. HBM  V19-4 Add: 9/12 Car: 9/14/12 HP:
