Millions of Workers Projected to Capitalize on These Trends Each Year
The home-based business sector will continue to expand despite the growing recession that shows no signs of abating. Many laid off workers will start working part-time, and join the ranks of the largest home-based business sector — part time owners. The following are trends behind this strength:
Powerful home office technology enables home-based business owners to be as productive as their office-based counterparts.
Increased Internet access and improved communications devices make working from home a viable option for anyone.
Home office networking enables entrepreneurs in separate locations to collaborate on large business endeavors.
More companies are setting up telecommuting programs for their employees as effective methods to cut overhead expenses in a tough economy.
A growing disillusionment with Corporate America has resulted in a stronger emphasis on entrepreneurism and achieving a higher quality of life, particularly among Generations X and Y.
Unstable economic conditions encourage more people to start part-time home businesses to improve financial security.
Corporate downsizing is opening up more contracting opportunities for home business owners. HBM

These are great tips ... except for the one about putting something "valuable" on the back of your biz card. The most valuable way to use this real estate is a blank matte surface that you or the recipient can make a note on. Examples: "Met at chamber networking event Mar 5" or "Call in Aug to follow up on new product."
