Hollywood Glitz Offers Some Interesting Insights for Home-Based Entrepreneurs

Every year, Oscars weekend bustles with glamor, glitz, and everything Hollywood. Home Business Magazine Publicity Editor Shannah Carol had the chance to attend three star-studded Pre-Oscars parties to check out some fabulous swag and interview celebs about their Academy Awards weekend experience.

At the first party, Debbie Durkin’s ECO-Oscars 2013 party benefiting the organization We Rock Green Mics, Shannah and stars like One Tree Hill’s Barbara Alyn Woods got to sample tasty Jamaican food by Coley’s Jamaica’s Best Cuisine and try Lifeway’s frozen kefir. She also checked out the home business start-ups Minky Couture luxurious custom blankets and HUGRZ, the leader in sustainable boot wraps. She also got a makeover by Stefanie G Beverly Hills Fine Cosmetics, as well as luxurious Argan Oil Cream by L’arganium.

At the second party, GBK’s Pre-Oscars Luxury Lounge at the Sofitel Hotel Los Angeles, Shannah mingled with stars like Django Unchained’s Dennis Christopher and Tichina Arnold of Happily Divorced. Shannah and all the stars in attendance absolutely loved the luxury product sponsors, including EcoGenics’s award-winning active botanical skincare products, The Artisan Group’s stylish and fun jewelry, SmartSilk’s all-natural and temperature regulated mattress pads, Gemesis’ eco-friendly manmade diamonds, NVEY ECO’s 100% certified organic make-up line, and Viavo’s all-natural and avocado-infused lotions and scrubs. While checking out the Road Ripper from Toy State and safe, ethical, and environmentally-friendly cosmetics from NVEY Eco, Shannah got to ask Tichina Arnold about her fave items at the party and see what she was up to for the rest of the weekend.

HBM: What are some of your favorite products here at the GBK Pre-Oscars Luxury Lounge?

Tichina: I just got a tasty Skinny Girl cocktail and I really like the Nicorette products. I am not a smoker; I got it in dedication to my uncle, who is seventy-two and he can’t quit smoking. He quit but then went back to smoking.

HBM: What else are you doing for Oscars weekend?

Tichina: I am going to bed. [laughs] I just got back from Brazil and I just did Essence’s 6^th Annual Women’s luncheon yesterday, which was amazing. Oprah spoke and it was great. I am all partied out now. I had to pick two parties and this is it.

To finish the night, Shannah attended OK! Magazine’s 2013 Pre-Oscar Party at The Emerson Theatre. She and all the stars in attendance got to dance to fun club tunes and sample tasty UV Vodka cocktails, get their hair done by Sexy Hair, and check out Vaseline Spray & Go.

The Home Business Magazine Publicity editor got to catch up with LMFAO singer RedFoo and his girlfriend Victoria Azarenka, who happens to also be the #2 women’s tennis player in the world. She asked the couple about their favorite movies nominated for an Oscar.

HBM: What are some of your favorite movies nominated for an Oscar?

RedFoo: Django Unchained!

Victoria: I am such a huge fan of movies, I haven’t seen a lot of the nominees though. I am going to get familiar with that.

Shannah also asked Heroes star Masi Oka why he was so excited to be at OK! Magazine’s 2013 Pre-Oscars Bash.

Masi: It’s fun! We are shooting Hawaii Five-O on an island, so it’s nice to be in Los Angeles to see a change of scenery.

She also chatted with Vanderpump Rules star Scheana Marie about why she was looking forward to Oscars weekend.

HBM: Why are you excited about Oscars weekend?

Scheana: Oscars weekend is amazing. Being an actress, it’s always something to look forward to. Just to strive to one day get a Best Supporting Actress or Best Lead Actress Oscar. It is so exciting. I love it.

HBM: What other plans do you have for the weekend?

Scheana: Tonight we are at the OK! Magazine party and tomorrow night we have another event. My manager has a whole lot of stuff lined up for me and I am just kind of going where he says and when he says.

HBM: What are your favorite movies nominated for an Oscar?

Scheana: Silver Linings Playbook. I just saw that and I am actually a really big fan. Argo because I love Ben Affleck. I also loved Les Miserables because I loved the whole concept-- the live singing and Anne Hathaway…I thought it was all amazing.
