A sigh of relief escaped Steve Petroff's chest. Every part of his body seemed to relax, as if from a deep-muscle massage. "It's over," Steve told himself. "My struggle is finally over." It seemed hard to believe, but the proof lay right there in front of him. Going over his checkbook that afternoon, Steve calculated that his business now generated $1,000 per week in commissions.
On the surface, it didn't seem like much. But it meant that Steve could quit his cabinet sales job and devote himself full-time to building his network marketing business, which specialized in legal service plans. "I realized that if I could make $1,000 a week, I could make $2,000 a week," Steve recalls. And he was right.
It was a magic moment for Steve Petroff — the moment his MLM business began running on autopilot. From then on, he says his income began growing by leaps and bounds. New business no longer had to pass through the single, narrow bottleneck of Steve Petroff. It was being generated by many different people at once.
Only six months later, Steve highlights that his weekly income doubled to $2,000. He reports drawing over $100,000 in annual commissions by the end of the first year, and $230,000 by the end of the second. During six and a half years in the business, he says he and his wife, Nancy, earned more than $2.1 million.
At age fifty-two, Steve formed Team Liberty (www.ContactLiberty.com), his own network marketing firm in Indianapolis, Indiana, selling the most requested fee-for-service plans bundled in a unique, single plan called “The Protector.” The Protector includes a legal plan, prescription plan, dental plan, vision plan, identity theft plan, and tax and accounting plan for a little over a dollar a day. In addition to putting together an attractive product, Steve developed a unique marketing plan that pays renewals monthly, starting with the first month at all commission levels.
Steve experienced a second magic moment when this latest endeavor paid off, which makes him absolutely certain about one thing. “The flames of ambition that were lit inside him all those years ago are still burning strong,” he says. “That is the kind of drive and determination that makes a great leader —someone you can follow all the way to the bank and experience your own magic moment.” HBM
